Ingredients:

  • 3 oz Silver (Blanco) Tequila (100% Agave recommended)
  • 2 oz Fresh Lime Juice (freshly squeezed)
  • 1 oz Orange Liqueur (Cointreau or Triple Sec)
  • 5 oz Simple Syrup (1:1 sugar/water, adjust to taste)
  • 2 cups Ice (preferably crushed)
  • Coarse Salt (for rim, optional)
  • 2 Lime wedges (for rimming, optional)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the glasses: Spread the coarse salt onto a shallow plate. Run a lime wedge around the rim of two chilled margarita glasses. Immediately invert and press the glass rims into the salt mixture to coat evenly. Set aside.
  2. Combine Liquids: Pour the tequila, fresh lime juice, orange liqueur, and simple syrup into a high-powered blender jar. Pulse once to combine the flavors thoroughly.
  3. Add Ice Strategically: Add 2 cups of crushed or cubed ice to the blender jar, ensuring the ice sits above the liquid line for optimal blending.
  4. Blend Until Smooth: Secure the lid. Start blending on a low speed and quickly ramp up to the highest setting. Blend continuously for 30–60 seconds, stopping only to scrape down any thick pockets of ice that cling to the sides.
  5. Check for Consistency: The final texture should be thick, smooth, and snowy, similar to a high-quality sorbet. There should be no audible crunching of ice chunks.
  6. Serve Immediately: Pour the frozen mixture into the prepared glasses. Garnish each drink with a fresh lime wheel or wedge and enjoy immediately while the texture is perfect.
