- 1/4 teaspoon (1.25ml) black pepper, or to taste
- 1 large yellow onion, thinly sliced into rings
- 1 cup (120g) all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon (5ml) salt
- 1/2 teaspoon (2.5ml) paprika
- Vegetable oil, for frying (about 2-3 cups/475-710ml)
- 1 (6-ounce/170g) can French-fried onions
- 1 tablespoon (15ml) balsamic glaze (optional)
- Chopped fresh parsley, for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
- Wash and trim the green beans.
- Slice onions into thin rings (if making homemade French-fried onions).
- Combine flour, salt, and paprika in a bowl (if making homemade French-fried onions).
- Dredge onion rings in the flour mixture, shaking off excess (if making homemade French-fried onions).
- Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C) (if making homemade French-fried onions).
- Fry onion rings in batches until golden brown and crispy (if making homemade French-fried onions). Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add garlic and cook until fragrant (about 30 seconds).
- Add Sauted Green Beans with French and sauté, stirring occasionally, until crisp-tender (about 5-7 minutes).
- Season with salt and pepper.
- Gently toss the sautéed green beans with the crispy French-fried onions.
- Drizzle with balsamic glaze (if using) and garnish with chopped parsley (if using). Serve immediately.
