Ingredients:
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup chili powder
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/4 tsp onion powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1/2 tsp apple cider vinegar
Instructions:
- Melt the butter over medium heat until it begins to foam.
- Whisk in the flour and cook for 2–3 minutes, stirring constantly, until a blonde roux forms.
- Stir in the chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, and onion powder. Cook for 60 seconds until fragrant.
- Stir in the tomato paste until fully integrated.
- Slowly pour in the broth while whisking vigorously to prevent lumps, then bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.
- Lower the heat and simmer for 5–10 minutes until the sauce thickens enough to coat the back of a spoon.
- Stir in the apple cider vinegar just before removing from heat.
