Ingredients:

  • 1 lb lean ground beef (90% lean)
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 3 tbsp brown sugar, packed
  • 1 tbsp toasted sesame oil
  • 1/2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 3 cups cooked white jasmine rice
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 3 stalks green onions, thinly sliced
  • 1 tbsp toasted sesame seeds

Instructions:

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, red pepper flakes, and black pepper until the sugar is dissolved.
  2. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat with 1 tablespoon of butter. Add the ground beef, breaking it apart with a spatula, and cook until browned and no longer pink.
  3. Stir in the minced garlic and grated ginger, cooking for 60 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Pour in the sauce mixture. Stir constantly for 2-3 minutes as the sauce bubbles and reduces into a glossy glaze that coats the beef.
  5. Divide the cooked rice into four bowls. Top with the glazed beef and garnish with sliced green onions and toasted sesame seeds.
