Ingredients:

  • 1 1/4 cups (300 ml) Water, freshly boiled
  • 2 tablespoons (16g) Ground Coffee, dark roast, coarsely ground (Vietnamese coffee preferred, like Trung Nguyen)
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) Sweetened Condensed Milk, adjust to taste

Instructions:

  1. Heat 1 1/4 cups (300ml) of water in a kettle or small saucepan until boiling.
  2. Place the Vietnamese coffee filter (phin) on top of a heat-proof glass or mug.
  3. Spoon 2 tablespoons (16g) of coarsely ground coffee into the phin. Gently shake to level the coffee grounds.
  4. Pour about 1 tablespoon of the boiling water evenly over the coffee grounds. Wait 30 seconds for the coffee to 'bloom' (degas).
  5. Slowly pour the remaining boiling water into the phin, filling it to near the top.
  6. While the coffee is brewing, pour 2 tablespoons of condensed milk into a separate glass.
  7. Once the coffee has finished brewing, stir it well with the condensed milk until fully combined.
  8. Fill a glass with ice, pour the coffee mixture over the ice, and enjoy immediately!
