Ingredients:
- 1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce or ketchup base
- 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1/4 cup honey or agave syrup
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder
- 1/4 tsp ground allspice or cinnamon
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- Natural food coloring or gel food coloring in red, blue, yellow, green, purple
Instructions:
- In a medium saucepan, combine tomato sauce, vinegar, honey, salt, onion powder, garlic powder, and optional spices.
- Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
- Reduce heat to low and let simmer gently for 15-20 minutes until flavors meld and the mixture thickens slightly.
- Remove from heat and blend until very smooth using an immersion blender or transfer to a blender.
- Stir in lemon juice for brightness.
- Divide the ketchup into small bowls, one for each desired color.
- Add a few drops of natural or gel food coloring to each bowl, mixing thoroughly to achieve vibrant, uniform hues.
- Pour the different colored ketchups into separate bottles or jars for serving and chill for at least 15 minutes before use.
