Ingredients:
- 1 cup (2 sticks/227g) unsalted butter, softened
- 6 cloves garlic, minced (about 2 tablespoons)
- 1/4 cup (30g) fresh parsley, chopped
- 1/4 teaspoon salt, or to taste
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper, or to taste
- Pinch of red pepper flakes (optional, for a little kick)
- 1 loaf (1 pound/450g) Italian bread, baguette, or French bread
- 2 tablespoons olive oil (optional, for brushing the crust)
Instructions:
- Combine the softened butter, minced garlic, parsley, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using) in a small bowl. Mix well until everything is evenly distributed.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Slice the bread lengthwise. Optionally, brush the cut sides with olive oil.
- Spread the garlic butter generously over both halves of the bread. Make sure to get right to the edges!
- Place the buttered bread halves on a baking sheet (lined with parchment paper for easier cleanup). Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and the garlic butter is melted and bubbly. Keep a close eye - ovens vary!
- Remove from the oven, slice into individual pieces (if desired), and serve immediately.
