Ingredients:

  • 1 lb (454g) ground beef (80/20 blend recommended)
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon (2.5 ml) garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon (2.5 ml) onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon (1.25 ml) smoked paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon (1.25 ml) ground black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon (2.5 ml) kosher salt (or to taste)
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) ice-cold water (optional, for extra juiciness)

Instructions:

  1. Gently combine ground beef, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, black pepper, and salt in a large bowl.
  2. Gently mix in the ice-cold water (if using).
  3. Divide the mixture into four equal portions. Gently shape each portion into a patty about 3/4 inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent them from bulging during cooking.
  4. Cover the patties with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes. This helps them hold their shape.
  5. Preheat grill to medium-high heat (about 375-400°F or 190-205°C).
  6. Place the patties on the preheated grill.
  7. Cook for 4-6 minutes per side, or until the internal temperature reaches your desired doneness.
  8. Remove from the grill and let rest for 5 minutes before serving. This allows the juices to redistribute.
