Ingredients:

  • 2 slices of your favorite bread (such as sourdough, white, or multigrain)
  • 2 tablespoons (28g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 2-3 ounces (57-85g) cheese, shredded or sliced (such as cheddar, Monterey Jack, Gruyère, or a blend)

Instructions:

  1. Evenly spread softened butter on one side of each slice of bread.
  2. Place one slice of bread, butter-side down, in the skillet. Top with cheese. Place the other slice of bread on top, butter-side up.
  3. Cook over medium-low heat. Watch carefully to prevent burning. Press gently with a spatula to ensure even browning and melting.
  4. When the bottom is golden brown, about 2-3 minutes, carefully flip the sandwich.
  5. Continue cooking for another 2-3 minutes, or until the second side is golden brown and the cheese is completely melted and gooey.
  6. Remove from the skillet and slice in half. Enjoy! This grilled cheese recipe is now complete.
