Ingredients:
- 2 cups (473 ml) buttermilk, cold
- 2 large eggs
- 4 tablespoons (57g) unsalted butter, melted and cooled slightly
- 1 teaspoon (5 ml) vanilla extract
- 2 cups (240g) all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons (24g) granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Instructions:
- Preheat the waffle iron according to manufacturer's instructions.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, whisking until just combined. Do not overmix; a few lumps are okay.
- Pour the appropriate amount of batter (according to your waffle iron's instructions) onto the preheated waffle iron. Cook until golden brown and crispy, usually 3-5 minutes per batch.
- Place cooked waffles on a wire rack in a warm oven (200°F / 93°C) to keep them warm and crispy until ready to serve (optional).
- Serve waffles immediately with your favorite toppings.
