Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (240ml) frozen mixed berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries), thawed slightly
  • ½ medium banana, fresh or frozen
  • ½ cup (120ml) Greek yogurt, plain, non-fat or low-fat
  • ½ cup (120ml) milk (dairy or non-dairy – almond, soy, oat), unsweetened
  • 1 tablespoon (15ml) ground flaxseed or chia seeds
  • ½ inch (1.25cm) piece of fresh ginger, peeled and roughly chopped
  • 1 cup (240ml) spinach, fresh, tightly packed
  • 1 tablespoon (15ml) honey or maple syrup, optional

Instructions:

  1. Gather all ingredients. Roughly chop the ginger. Thaw the berries slightly.
  2. Add the liquids (milk, yogurt) to the blender first.
  3. Add the banana, frozen berries, flaxseed/chia seeds, and spinach on top of the liquids.
  4. Add the chopped ginger.
  5. Secure the blender lid and blend on high speed until completely smooth, about 30-60 seconds. If the smoothie is too thick, add a splash more milk. If it's too thin, add a few more frozen berries.
  6. Taste the smoothie. If it's not sweet enough, add honey or maple syrup to taste.
  7. Pour into a glass and drink immediately. Garnish with a few fresh berries.
