Ingredients:
- 1 teaspoon (3g) culinary-grade matcha powder
- 2 tablespoons (30ml) hot water
- 1 cup (240ml) milk of your choice (dairy, almond, oat, soy)
- 1/2 vanilla bean, split lengthwise and seeds scraped (or 1 teaspoon vanilla extract)
- 1 tablespoon (15ml) sweetener of choice (maple syrup, agave, honey, or sugar)
- Optional: Whipped cream
Instructions:
- Whisk the matcha powder with hot water in a small bowl until smooth and frothy, ensuring no clumps remain. Set aside.
- In a saucepan, gently heat the milk with the scraped vanilla bean seeds and the pod. Simmer for 2 minutes to infuse the milk with vanilla flavor. Remove the vanilla bean pod. Alternatively, skip the heating and add vanilla extract later.
- Stir in your sweetener of choice into the vanilla-infused milk (or cold milk). Use a milk frother to create a light and airy foam.
- Pour the matcha elixir into your serving glass.
- Gently pour the frothed vanilla milk over the matcha.
- Top with whipped cream, a dusting of matcha powder, or a sprinkle of vanilla bean seeds (optional).
