Ingredients:

  • 1 teaspoon (3g) culinary-grade matcha powder
  • 2 tablespoons (30ml) hot water
  • 1 cup (240ml) milk of your choice (dairy, almond, oat, soy)
  • 1/2 vanilla bean, split lengthwise and seeds scraped (or 1 teaspoon vanilla extract)
  • 1 tablespoon (15ml) sweetener of choice (maple syrup, agave, honey, or sugar)
  • Optional: Whipped cream

Instructions:

  1. Whisk the matcha powder with hot water in a small bowl until smooth and frothy, ensuring no clumps remain. Set aside.
  2. In a saucepan, gently heat the milk with the scraped vanilla bean seeds and the pod. Simmer for 2 minutes to infuse the milk with vanilla flavor. Remove the vanilla bean pod. Alternatively, skip the heating and add vanilla extract later.
  3. Stir in your sweetener of choice into the vanilla-infused milk (or cold milk). Use a milk frother to create a light and airy foam.
  4. Pour the matcha elixir into your serving glass.
  5. Gently pour the frothed vanilla milk over the matcha.
  6. Top with whipped cream, a dusting of matcha powder, or a sprinkle of vanilla bean seeds (optional).
