Ingredients:
- 4 cups all-purpose flour (500 g)
- 2 tsp instant yeast (6 g)
- 1/2 cup sugar (100 g)
- 1 tsp baking powder (4 g)
- 1 cup warm water (240 mL)
- 2 Tbsp vegetable oil (30 mL)
- Pinch of salt
- 1 lb ground pork (450 g)
- 3 Tbsp soy sauce (45 mL)
- 2 Tbsp oyster sauce (30 mL)
- 1 Tbsp sesame oil (15 mL)
- 2 tsp grated ginger (10 g)
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup green onions, finely chopped (25 g)
Instructions:
- In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, yeast, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add warm water and vegetable oil, mixing until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- In another bowl, mix the ground pork with soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, ginger, garlic, and green onions until well combined.
- Allow the filling to marinate while the dough rises.
- Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide into 12 equal pieces.
- Roll each piece into a ball, then flatten into a disc (about 3 inches in diameter).
- Place a spoonful of filling in the center, fold the edges over, and pinch to seal.
- Prepare the steamer lined with parchment or cabbage leaves.
- Place buns in the steamer, leaving space between each.
- Steam for 15-20 minutes over boiling water until fluffy and cooked through.
