Ingredients:

  • 2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp (5g) sugar
  • 1 tsp (5g) instant yeast
  • 1 tsp (5g) salt
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) warm water (about 110°F/43°C)
  • 1/4 cup (60g) plain yogurt
  • 2 tbsp (30ml) olive oil (or ghee)
  • Additional flour for dusting
  • Butter or ghee for brushing (optional)

Instructions:

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
  2. Add warm water, yogurt, and oil; mix until a rough dough forms.
  3. Transfer to a floured surface, knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel or plastic wrap; let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Punch down the risen dough, divide it into 6-8 equal portions, and shape them into balls.
  6. On a floured surface, roll each ball into an oval or circle, about 1/4 inch thick.
  7. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook each naan for 1-2 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  8. Place cooked naan on a plate, cover with a towel to keep warm while cooking the remaining pieces.
