Ingredients:

  • 1 pound (450g) lean ground turkey
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (15ml)
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder (7g)
  • 1 teaspoon cumin (2g)
  • 1 teaspoon paprika (2g)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 head of Romaine lettuce or butter lettuce, leaves separated
  • 1 cup (240ml) fresh salsa
  • ½ cup (120ml) Greek yogurt or light sour cream (optional)
  • ¼ cup (30g) shredded cheese (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add chopped onion and sauté until translucent (about 3-4 minutes). Stir in minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.
  3. Add ground turkey to the skillet, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon. Cook until browned and fully cooked (about 7-10 minutes), ensuring no pink remains.
  4. Sprinkle in chili powder, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper. Stir well to coat the turkey evenly; cook for an additional 2 minutes.
  5. Spoon turkey filling into lettuce leaves and top with fresh salsa and yogurt or cheese as desired.
  6. Serve immediately, garnished with additional salsa if desired.
