Ingredients:
- 1 lb (450g) Ground Beef (80/20 blend)
- 1/2 teaspoon (2.5ml) Salt
- 1/4 teaspoon (1.25ml) Black Pepper
- 1 teaspoon (5ml) Worcestershire Sauce
- 1 small Yellow Onion, finely diced (about 1/2 cup or 60g)
- 1 tablespoon (15ml) Olive Oil or Vegetable Oil
- 4 Burger Buns
- Lettuce leaves
- Sliced Tomato
- Sliced Onion
- Pickles
- Ketchup
- Mustard
- Mayonnaise
- Sliced Cheese (Cheddar, American, or Swiss)
Instructions:
- Gently combine ground beef, salt, pepper, Worcestershire sauce, and diced onion in a bowl. Avoid overmixing.
- Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions. Gently form each portion into a patty, about 3/4 inch thick. Press a small indentation into the center of each patty to prevent bulging during cooking. Let rest for 10 minutes.
- Heat olive oil or vegetable oil in a large skillet or cast iron pan over medium-high heat. The pan should be hot but not smoking.
- Place the patties in the hot pan, leaving space between them. Sear for 3-4 minutes per side, until a deep brown crust forms.
- Reduce heat to medium. Continue cooking for another 4-6 minutes per side, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C) for medium doneness. If adding cheese, do so in the last minute of cooking, covering the pan to melt it.
- Remove the burgers from the pan and let them rest for a few minutes before serving.
- Toast the burger buns if desired. Build your burgers with your favorite toppings and enjoy!
