Ingredients:
- 1 pound (450g) fresh green beans, trimmed
- 2 tablespoons (30ml) olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- 1 tablespoon (15ml) fresh lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon lemon zest
- 1 tablespoon (15ml) chopped fresh parsley (for garnish)
Instructions:
- Wash and trim the green beans. Pat dry.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add minced garlic and red pepper flakes (if using). Sauté until fragrant, about 30 seconds. (Watch carefully so the garlic doesn't burn!)
- Add green beans to the skillet. Season with salt and pepper. Sauté, stirring occasionally, until crisp-tender and bright green, about 5-7 minutes. Visual cue: They should be slightly browned in places.
- Remove the skillet from the heat. Stir in lemon juice and lemon zest.
- Transfer green beans to a serving dish. Garnish with fresh parsley. Serve immediately.
