Ingredients:

  • 1 pound (450g) fresh green beans, trimmed
  • 2 tablespoons (30ml) olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon (15ml) fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 1 tablespoon (15ml) chopped fresh parsley (for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Wash and trim the green beans. Pat dry.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add minced garlic and red pepper flakes (if using). Sauté until fragrant, about 30 seconds. (Watch carefully so the garlic doesn't burn!)
  3. Add green beans to the skillet. Season with salt and pepper. Sauté, stirring occasionally, until crisp-tender and bright green, about 5-7 minutes. Visual cue: They should be slightly browned in places.
  4. Remove the skillet from the heat. Stir in lemon juice and lemon zest.
  5. Transfer green beans to a serving dish. Garnish with fresh parsley. Serve immediately.
