Ingredients:

  • 1 pound (450g) ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 8 ounces (225g) mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons (30g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup (240ml) beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon (15ml) Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 cup (240ml) sour cream
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons (30ml) olive oil or butter
  • Cooked egg noodles or rice
  • Fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions:

  1. Heat olive oil (or butter) in a skillet over medium heat. Add chopped onion, and cook for 3-4 minutes until softened.
  2. Increase heat and add ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon. Drain excess fat.
  3. Stir in sliced mushrooms and minced garlic. Cook for another 5-7 minutes until mushrooms release their moisture and soften.
  4. Sprinkle the flour over the mixture and stir well to combine, cooking for 1 minute.
  5. Gradually pour in beef broth while stirring, followed by Worcestershire sauce. Bring to a simmer.
  6. Reduce heat to low and fold in sour cream. Stir to create a creamy consistency. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Serve over cooked egg noodles or rice, garnished with fresh parsley.
