Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup popcorn kernels (about 120 grams)
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil (30 ml)
  • Salt, to taste
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted (60 grams) (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder (5 grams) (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon paprika (5 grams) (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Place the pot on medium heat. Add vegetable oil and allow it to heat for a minute.
  2. Drop 2-3 popcorn kernels into the pot. Cover with a lid. Wait until the kernels pop to know the oil is ready.
  3. Remove test kernels, add remaining popcorn kernels to the pot, and cover it.
  4. Shake the pot gently over heat to ensure even popping. Listen for the popping sounds; when they slow down (about 3-5 seconds between pops), remove the pot from heat.
  5. Transfer popped popcorn to a large bowl. Drizzle with melted butter (if using) and sprinkle with salt and other flavorings.
  6. Toss the popcorn gently to coat evenly and serve immediately.
