Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 3/4 cup warm water

Instructions:

  1. In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, salt, and baking powder.
  2. Pour in the melted butter, mixing until crumbly.
  3. Gradually add warm water, stirring until a dough forms.
  4. Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead until smooth, about 5 minutes.
  5. Cover with a clean towel and let it rest for 15 minutes.
  6. Split the rested dough into 10-12 equal portions, rolling each into a ball.
  7. Use a rolling pin to flatten each ball into a 6-8 inch circle.
  8. Heat a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Cook each tortilla 30-45 seconds per side until lightly browned and puffed.
  9. Stack the cooked tortillas in a clean towel to keep warm and soft until serving.
  10. Cut into strips or leave whole to serve with tortilla soup.
