Ingredients:
- 4 fillets Salmon (approx. 6 oz / 175g each)
- 4 Tbsp Unsalted Butter, softened
- 3 cloves Fresh Garlic, minced
- 2 Tbsp Fresh Parsley or Dill, chopped
- Zest of 1 whole lemon
- 1 Tbsp Fresh Lemon Juice
- 1 tsp Kosher Salt
- ½ tsp Freshly Ground Black Pepper
- ½ tsp Smoked Paprika (optional)
- 1 Tbsp Olive Oil
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven: Set oven rack to the middle position and preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C / Gas Mark 6).
- Prepare the Tray: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil. Lightly brush the paper/foil with 1 Tbsp of olive oil to prevent sticking.
- Prep the Salmon: Pat the salmon fillets completely dry using paper towels. This helps the seasoning stick.
- Combine the Butter: In a small mixing bowl, combine the softened butter, minced garlic, chopped herbs (parsley or dill), and lemon zest. Mix thoroughly until uniform.
- Season the Fish: Place the dry salmon fillets on the prepared baking sheet. Sprinkle the tops evenly with salt, pepper, and smoked paprika (if using).
- Apply the Butter: Divide the garlic-herb butter mixture evenly across the top of the four fillets. Spread gently to coat the surface thickly.
- Final Touches: Drizzle the reserved 1 Tbsp of fresh lemon juice over the fish and the tray.
- Bake: Transfer the tray to the preheated oven. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, until the internal temperature reaches 145°F (63°C) and the flesh flakes easily with a fork.
- Rest: Remove the salmon from the oven immediately. Let the fillets rest on the baking sheet for 5 minutes. Do not skip this step, as it ensures maximum flakiness.
- Serve: Carefully transfer the salmon to plates, spooning any excess melted garlic-lemon butter sauce from the tray over the fillets before serving.
