Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) chili powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons (7.5 ml) ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon (2.5 ml) garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon (2.5 ml) onion powder
  • 1/4 - 1/2 teaspoon (1.25 - 2.5 ml) cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon (2.5 ml) black pepper

Instructions:

  1. In a small bowl, combine the chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, oregano, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper.
  2. Whisk all the ingredients together thoroughly until well combined. Make sure there are no clumps.
  3. Transfer the taco seasoning to an airtight container or jar. Store in a cool, dark place for up to 6 months.
  4. When browning your ground meat, drain off any excess fat, then add the taco seasoning. Stir well to coat the meat evenly. Add 1/4 cup of water and simmer until the water has evaporated and the meat is nicely seasoned.
