Ingredients:

  • 2 pounds (900g) ground turkey, preferably lean (93% lean)
  • 1 medium yellow onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup (120g) breadcrumbs, plain, dried
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) milk, any kind
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) fresh parsley, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons (30ml) fresh thyme leaves, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon (15ml) Dijon mustard
  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons (30ml) brown sugar, packed
  • 1 tablespoon (15ml) apple cider vinegar (or white vinegar)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan.
  2. Sauté chopped onion in a little olive oil (or cooking spray) until softened, about 5 minutes. Add minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant. Let cool slightly.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine ground turkey, sautéed onion mixture, breadcrumbs, milk, parsley, thyme, Dijon mustard, egg, salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  4. Gently mix all ingredients with your hands until just combined. Be careful not to overmix!
  5. Transfer the mixture to the prepared loaf pan and gently shape it into an even loaf.
  6. In a small bowl, whisk together ketchup, brown sugar, and apple cider vinegar until smooth.
  7. Spread half of the glaze evenly over the top of the meatloaf. Bake for 45 minutes.
  8. Remove from oven and spread the remaining glaze over the meatloaf.
  9. Return to the oven and bake for another 10-20 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) when measured with a meat thermometer inserted into the thickest part of the loaf.
  10. Let the meatloaf rest in the pan for 10-15 minutes before slicing and serving. This allows the juices to redistribute. Enjoy this amazing turkey meatloaf recipe!
