Ingredients:
- 4 (6-ounce/170g) salmon fillets, skin on or off, pin bones removed
- 1 tablespoon (15ml) olive oil
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
- 1/4 cup (60ml) honey, preferably local
- 2 tablespoons (30ml) soy sauce, low sodium
- 2 cloves garlic, minced (approx. 1 teaspoon/5g)
- 1 tablespoon (15ml) rice vinegar
- 1 teaspoon (5ml) sesame oil
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for a touch of heat)
- 1 tablespoon water
Instructions:
- In a small saucepan, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, rice vinegar, sesame oil, red pepper flakes (if using), and water.
- Bring the glaze to a simmer over medium heat. Cook for 2-3 minutes, or until slightly thickened. Remove from heat and set aside.
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) or prepare your grill for medium-high heat. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper (if baking). Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels and season with salt and pepper.
- Place the salmon fillets on the prepared baking sheet. Brush generously with half of the honey-garlic glaze. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the salmon is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork, and the internal temperature reaches 145°F (63°C). Baste with the remaining glaze during the last few minutes of cooking.
- Place the salmon fillets skin-side down (if using skin-on fillets) on the preheated grill. Brush with half of the honey-garlic glaze. Cook for 4-6 minutes per side, or until the salmon is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork, and the internal temperature reaches 145°F (63°C). Baste with the remaining glaze during the last few minutes of cooking.
- Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions (optional). Serve immediately. The best honey glazed salmon recipe!
