Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup (113g) unsalted butter, cut into cubes
- 4 ounces (113g) unsweetened chocolate, chopped
- 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup (60g) all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup (85g) chocolate chips (optional)
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8x8 inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang.
- In a double boiler (or heatproof bowl over simmering water), melt butter and unsweetened chocolate, stirring until smooth. Remove from heat.
- Stir in granulated sugar until well combined. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add to wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Don't overmix.
- Stir in chocolate chips (if using).
- Pour batter into prepared pan and spread evenly. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs.
- Let cool completely in the pan before lifting out using the parchment paper. Cut into 16 squares.
