Ingredients:

  • 2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour
  • 3 tablespoons (40g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) warm water
  • 1 tablespoon (12g) granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon (2g) salt
  • 1 cup (240g) red bean paste (sweetened)
  • 1 tablespoon (15ml) sesame oil
  • 1/2 cup (60g) sesame seeds
  • Oil for frying (e.g., vegetable oil)

Instructions:

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt. Mix in butter until crumbly. Gradually add warm water, kneading until a smooth dough forms. Cover and let rest for 30 minutes.
  2. In a bowl, mix red bean paste with sesame oil until well combined.
  3. Divide dough into equal portions. Roll each piece into a small circle on a floured surface. Place a spoonful of filling in the center; fold and seal edges.
  4. Dip each pastry in water and roll in sesame seeds to coat.
  5. Heat oil in a pan or deep fryer to 350°F (175°C). Fry pastries in batches until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side. Remove and drain on paper towels.
