Ingredients:
- 1 cup (120g) all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons (28g) sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup (60ml) warm water
- 1 tablespoon (15ml) vegetable oil
- 1/2 cup (120g) red bean paste (or other sweet filling)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
- 1 cup (120g) sesame seeds
- Vegetable oil for deep frying
Instructions:
- In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt.
- Gradually add warm water and oil, mixing until a dough forms.
- Knead until smooth, then wrap in plastic wrap and chill for 30 minutes.
- In a bowl, combine red bean paste with vanilla extract if using.
- Roll into small balls, about 1 teaspoon each. Set aside.
- Divide the dough into equal portions.
- Roll out each portion into a small circle.
- Place a filling ball in the center of the circle, fold over, and seal.
- Roll each sealed dough ball in sesame seeds until well-coated.
- Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
- Carefully add cakes to the hot oil, frying until golden brown (about 3-4 minutes per side).
- Remove and drain on paper towels.
