Ingredients:
- 2 large Oranges, thinly sliced
- 1 medium Lemon, thinly sliced
- 1 medium Granny Smith Apple, cored and chopped
- 2 ripe Peaches or Nectarines, pitted and sliced
- 1 bottle (750 ml) Dry Red Wine (Tempranillo or Merlot)
- 1/2 cup Brandy or Cognac
- 1/2 cup Orange Juice (freshly squeezed preferred)
- 1/4 cup Simple Syrup (or to taste)
- 1 cup Chilled Club Soda or Sparkling Water (for topping)
Instructions:
- Thoroughly wash and slice all oranges, lemons, apples, and stone fruit. Place all prepared fruit into a large glass pitcher or non-reactive bowl.
- Pour the entire bottle of red wine, brandy, orange juice, and simple syrup directly over the fruit in the pitcher.
- Gently stir the mixture to combine the liquids and ensure the fruit is submerged. Cover the pitcher tightly and refrigerate for a minimum of 2 hours, ideally 4–6 hours, for flavour development.
- Just before serving, taste the Sangria. If it is too tart, stir in a splash more simple syrup.
- Top the pitcher with the chilled club soda or sparkling water. Give one final, gentle stir. Serve immediately over plenty of ice, ensuring each glass gets a good helping of the fruit pieces.
