Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (240ml) Milk (Whole recommended)
  • 2 Tbsp (30ml) Vanilla Syrup
  • Approx. 1.5 cups Ice
  • 2 shots (60ml) hot Espresso (or strong coffee)
  • 1–2 Tbsp Caramel Sauce (for drizzling)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Base Flavor: In the bottom of your serving glass, add the vanilla syrup.
  2. Add Ice and Milk: Fill the glass nearly to the top with ice. Pour the cold milk over the ice, leaving about 1 inch of space at the top.
  3. Brew the Espresso: Brew your two shots of hot, fresh espresso using a machine, Moka Pot, or Aeropress.
  4. The Crucial Layering (The Macchiato Moment): Slowly and carefully pour the hot espresso over the back of a spoon held just above the surface of the milk. This technique helps the espresso settle slightly above the milk layer.
  5. Caramel Drizzle: Finish by generously drizzling the caramel sauce in a zig-zag pattern over the very top of the drink.
  6. Serve: Serve immediately with a straw or long spoon. Advise the drinker to stir before drinking for a uniform flavour, or sip slowly to experience the layers.
