Ingredients:
- 4 tablespoons loose-leaf tea (approximately 15 grams)
- 1 quart filtered cold water
- 3 thin slices organic lemon
- 2 sprigs fresh mint
- 0.5 cup halved fresh strawberries
Instructions:
- Prep the fruit. Slice the 3 thin slices organic lemon and halve the 0.5 cup fresh strawberries. Note: Keeping slices thin ensures maximum surface area contact.
- Awaken the aromatics. Take the 2 sprigs fresh mint and clap them between your hands before dropping them into a quart sized glass jar. until you smell the refreshing scent.
- Add the tea. Measure out 4 tablespoons loose leaf tea and pour them directly over the mint and fruit.
- Hydrate. Pour 1 quart filtered cold water into the jar, leaving about an inch of headspace at the top.
- Submerge. Use a long spoon to gently push the floating tea leaves and fruit down into the water. Note: This ensures every leaf starts the infusion process at the same time.
- Seal and chill. Place the lid on the jar and move it to the refrigerator.
- Steep. Let the mixture sit undisturbed for 8 hours. until the water turns a deep, translucent amber.
- Strain. Pour the mixture through a fine mesh strainer into a clean pitcher, discarding the spent leaves and mint.
- Garnish. Place the steeped strawberry halves back into the pitcher for visual appeal.
- Serve. Pour over fresh ice and enjoy immediately. until the condensation forms on the outside of the glass.
