Ingredients:
- 1 pound ground beef (80/20 for flavor)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (if necessary)
- 1 small onion, diced
- 1 packet taco seasoning (1 oz / 28g)
- 1 cup salsa
- 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or Mexican blend)
- 8 ounces Doritos, crushed
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 medium green bell pepper, chopped (optional)
- Fresh cilantro, chopped (optional)
- Additional cheese for topping
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a skillet over medium heat, add olive oil (if needed), and sauté the diced onion until translucent.
- Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon. Season with taco seasoning.
- Stir in salsa and mix well. Remove from heat.
- In a separate bowl, mix together sour cream and half of the shredded cheese.
- In the baking dish, create a layer of crushed Doritos.
- Spread half of the beef mixture over the Doritos.
- Spoon half of the sour cream mixture over the beef, then repeat the layers.
- Finish with a final layer of crushed Doritos, and sprinkle remaining cheese on top. Cover with aluminum foil.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes, then remove foil and bake an additional 5-10 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Allow to cool for a few minutes; garnish with cilantro, if desired. Serve hot.
