Ingredients:

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour, plus extra for dusting
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • ½ cup whole milk, warmed to about 110°F (43°C)
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • ⅓ cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions:

  1. In a small bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add activated yeast mixture, egg, and melted butter.
  3. Mix until a dough forms; transfer to a floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes until smooth.
  4. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm spot for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. In a small bowl, combine brown sugar and cinnamon.
  6. Once risen, punch down the dough and roll it out into a rectangle about ¼ inch thick.
  7. Spread softened butter over the dough, then sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly.
  8. Roll the dough tightly into a log, then slice into 12 equal pieces. Place in a greased baking dish.
  9. Cover and let rise for an additional 20-30 minutes, until puffed.
  10. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
  11. Whisk together cream cheese, powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
  12. Remove Cinnamon Melts from the oven and let cool slightly. Drizzle with cream cheese glaze before serving.
