Ingredients:
- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour, plus extra for dusting
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- ½ cup whole milk, warmed to about 110°F (43°C)
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
- ⅓ cup brown sugar, packed
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons milk
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions:
- In a small bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add activated yeast mixture, egg, and melted butter.
- Mix until a dough forms; transfer to a floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes until smooth.
- Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm spot for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- In a small bowl, combine brown sugar and cinnamon.
- Once risen, punch down the dough and roll it out into a rectangle about ¼ inch thick.
- Spread softened butter over the dough, then sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly.
- Roll the dough tightly into a log, then slice into 12 equal pieces. Place in a greased baking dish.
- Cover and let rise for an additional 20-30 minutes, until puffed.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
- Whisk together cream cheese, powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
- Remove Cinnamon Melts from the oven and let cool slightly. Drizzle with cream cheese glaze before serving.
