Ingredients:
- 1 cup (226 g) unsalted butter, softened
- 1 ½ cups (300 g) granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 2 cups (250 g) all-purpose flour, sifted
- ½ teaspoon (2 g) baking powder
- ½ teaspoon (2 g) salt
- 1 teaspoon (5 ml) vanilla extract
- ½ cup (120 ml) whole milk
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour the 9-inch round cake pan.
- In a mixing bowl, cream together softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy (about 3-5 minutes).
- Add eggs, one at a time, incorporating well after each addition. Mix in vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with milk, starting and ending with dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan, smoothing the top with a spatula.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
