Ingredients:

  • 2 cups (480ml) whole milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup (100g) granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 200g dark chocolate (minimum 70% cocoa), chopped
  • 1 cup (240ml) heavy cream
  • 1 cup (150g) mixed seasonal berries (e.g., strawberries, raspberries, blueberries)
  • 2 tbsp (30g) honey (optional, to taste)
  • Fresh mint leaves for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Whisk together milk, eggs, sugar, and vanilla in a saucepan over medium heat. Continue whisking until the mixture thickens (about 10 minutes). Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
  2. Heat heavy cream in a saucepan until just simmering. Pour the hot cream over the chopped chocolate in a heatproof bowl; let sit for 2 minutes then stir until smooth.
  3. In the prepared dish, pour half of the custard layer first. Next, pour half of the chocolate layer on top. Add mixed berries (optionally blended with honey). Repeat the process with the remaining layers, finishing with chocolate on top.
  4. Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 3 hours, or until set.
  5. Garnish with fresh berries and mint leaves before serving.
