Ingredients:
- 2 tablespoons (30 ml) granulated sugar
- ⅛ teaspoon (pinch) baking soda
Instructions:
- Add the sugar to your saucepan or ladle. Place over medium-low heat. Melt the sugar, stirring constantly with a wooden spoon or chopstick to prevent burning. The sugar will first clump, then melt into a clear, amber-colored liquid.
- Once the sugar is fully melted and has a light amber color, immediately remove it from the heat. Quickly add the baking soda. Stir vigorously and continuously until the mixture turns a light golden-brown color and becomes foamy. This happens very quickly, so be ready.
- Immediately pour the mixture onto your prepared heat-resistant surface. Use the back of a spoon or a flat, heatproof object to quickly flatten the candy into a thin circle, about ¼ inch (6mm) thick. Work quickly, as the candy sets fast.
- While the candy is still warm and pliable (but not sticky), gently press your chosen cookie cutter into the center of the candy. Do not press all the way through. Just imprint the shape.
- Allow the candy to cool completely and harden. Serve immediately and enjoy the Squid Game challenge! (Or just enjoy the candy, without the death-defying pressure.)
