  • 1 pound (450g) fresh green beans, trimmed
  • 3 tablespoons (45ml) olive oil
  • ½ teaspoon (2g) salt
  • ½ teaspoon (2g) black pepper
  • ½ cup (50g) grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon (5g) garlic powder
  • Zest of 1 lemon (optional, for brightness)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Prepare the baking sheet: Line it with parchment paper for easy cleanup (optional).
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine green beans, olive oil, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Toss to coat.
  4. Spread the coated green beans evenly on the baking sheet.
  5. Roast in the oven for 15 minutes, stirring halfway through, until they start to brown.
  6. Remove from the oven and sprinkle roasted beans with grated Parmesan.
  7. Return to the oven for an additional 5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and golden.
  8. Remove from the oven, zest with lemon (if using), and serve immediately.
