Ingredients:

  • 2 ripe but firm avocados (about 400g), peeled and pitted
  • 1 tablespoon (15ml) olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon (2.5ml) garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon (2.5ml) onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon (1.25ml) smoked paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon (1.25ml) chili powder (optional, for a kick)
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  2. Very thinly slice the avocados using a sharp knife or mandoline. Aim for consistent slices about 1/8 inch (3mm) thick.
  3. In a bowl, gently toss the avocado slices with olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, chili powder (if using), salt, and pepper. Be careful not to break the slices.
  4. Spread the avocado slices in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Avoid overcrowding, as this will prevent them from crisping up.
  5. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the chips are crispy. Keep a close eye on them to prevent burning.
  6. Let the chips cool completely on the baking sheet before serving. They will crisp up further as they cool. Enjoy your homemade avocado chips!
