Ingredients:
- 1 tsp ceremonial grade matcha powder
- 2 oz hot water
- 1 cup milk
- 1 tsp honey
Instructions:
- Sift the 1 tsp matcha powder through a fine-mesh strainer into a small mixing bowl to remove any clumps.
- Add 2 oz of hot water (175°F/80°C) to the powder, ensuring the water is not boiling to avoid scorching the tea.
- Using a bamboo whisk or electric frother, mix vigorously in a zig-zag motion until the liquid is smooth and a layer of tiny bubbles forms on the surface.
- Heat 1 cup of milk in a small saucepan over medium heat or in the microwave until steaming but not boiling.
- Use a handheld frother or bamboo whisk to aerate the milk until it reaches a velvety, doubled volume.
- Pour the concentrated matcha tea base into a mug.
- Gently pour the frothed milk over the tea, allowing the foam to settle naturally on top.
- Stir in 1 tsp of honey if desired.
