Ingredients:
- 2 cups (480 ml) whole milk
- 1 cup (240 ml) heavy cream
- 3/4 cup (150 g) granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup (25 g) unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tablespoon (15 ml) pure vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon peppermint extract
- 2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh mint leaves (optional)
- Green food coloring (optional)
Instructions:
- Sift together sugar, cocoa powder, and salt in a medium bowl to avoid lumps.
- Slowly whisk the milk and heavy cream into the dry ingredients until well combined and smooth.
- Stir in vanilla extract and peppermint extract. Add chopped mint leaves if using. Add a few drops of green food coloring if desired.
- Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and place it in the refrigerator for 1 hour to chill well.
- Pour chilled mixture into a freezer-safe container. Freeze for 30 minutes.
- Every 30 minutes, remove from freezer and stir vigorously with a fork or mixer to break up ice crystals, repeating 3 to 4 times over 2 hours.
- Let the Frosty set for an additional 1 to 2 hours until it reaches a soft-serve consistency.
- Scoop into chilled bowls or glasses and enjoy immediately for best texture.
