Ingredients:
- 1 tbsp Sichuan peppercorns (or 2 tsp Sichuan peppercorn powder)
- 1 tbsp fennel seeds (or 2 tsp fennel seed powder)
- 3 star anise (or 2 tsp ground star anise)
- 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
- ½ tsp ground cloves
Instructions:
- Assemble all the spices and equipment needed.
- With a spice grinder: Place 1 tbsp of Sichuan peppercorns, 1 tbsp of fennel seeds, and 3 star anise into the spice grinder. Blend until finely ground.
- Without a spice grinder: Use a mortar and pestle to crush the same spices until they reach a fine consistency.
- Transfer the ground spices into a small bowl.
- Add 1 tbsp of ground cinnamon and ½ tsp of ground cloves to the bowl. Stir until well combined.
- Store in an airtight container, away from light and heat.
