Ingredients:
- 1 cup (240ml) warm water (105-115°F / 40-46°C)
- 1 teaspoon (5ml) sugar
- 2 teaspoons (10ml) active dry yeast
- 2 1/2 cups (300g) all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting
- 1 teaspoon (6g) salt
- 2 tablespoons (30ml) olive oil
- 1 tablespoon (15ml) olive oil
- 1 medium onion, chopped (approx. 1 cup / 150g)
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 (15 ounce / 425g) can chili with beans
- 1/2 teaspoon chili powder (2g)
- 1/4 teaspoon cumin (1g)
- 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika (1g)
- 6-8 hot dogs, cooked and sliced into 1/2-inch (1cm) pieces
- 2 cups (225g) shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup (75g) diced white onion
- Mustard, for drizzling
- Ketchup, for drizzling
Instructions:
- Proof yeast in warm water with sugar. Combine flour and salt in a bowl. Add yeast mixture and olive oil, mixing until a dough forms. Knead dough until smooth and elastic. Let rise in a warm place until doubled in size.
- Sauté onion and garlic in olive oil. Add chili, chili powder, cumin, and smoked paprika. Simmer to meld flavors.
- Preheat oven and pizza stone (or baking sheet). Roll out dough into a circle. Spread chili sauce evenly over the dough.
- Sprinkle with cheddar cheese, then arrange hot dog slices and diced onion on top.
- Bake until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Drizzle with mustard and ketchup before slicing and serving.
