Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (240ml) warm water (105-115°F / 40-46°C)
  • 1 teaspoon (5ml) sugar
  • 2 teaspoons (10ml) active dry yeast
  • 2 1/2 cups (300g) all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting
  • 1 teaspoon (6g) salt
  • 2 tablespoons (30ml) olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon (15ml) olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, chopped (approx. 1 cup / 150g)
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 (15 ounce / 425g) can chili with beans
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder (2g)
  • 1/4 teaspoon cumin (1g)
  • 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika (1g)
  • 6-8 hot dogs, cooked and sliced into 1/2-inch (1cm) pieces
  • 2 cups (225g) shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup (75g) diced white onion
  • Mustard, for drizzling
  • Ketchup, for drizzling

Instructions:

  1. Proof yeast in warm water with sugar. Combine flour and salt in a bowl. Add yeast mixture and olive oil, mixing until a dough forms. Knead dough until smooth and elastic. Let rise in a warm place until doubled in size.
  2. Sauté onion and garlic in olive oil. Add chili, chili powder, cumin, and smoked paprika. Simmer to meld flavors.
  3. Preheat oven and pizza stone (or baking sheet). Roll out dough into a circle. Spread chili sauce evenly over the dough.
  4. Sprinkle with cheddar cheese, then arrange hot dog slices and diced onion on top.
  5. Bake until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  6. Drizzle with mustard and ketchup before slicing and serving.
