Ingredients:
- 1 pound ground beef (or ground turkey)
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 1 packet taco seasoning
- 1 can diced tomatoes with green chilies, undrained
- 1 cup water
- 3 cups tortilla chips, crushed
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup sour cream
- Chopped fresh cilantro for garnish
- Sliced jalapeños for garnish (optional)
- Diced avocado for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large skillet, cook the ground beef and onion over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Stir in taco seasoning, diced tomatoes, and water. Simmer for 5 minutes.
- In a baking dish, layer half of the crushed tortilla chips, half of the meat mixture, and half of the cheese. Repeat layers.
- Evenly spread sour cream over the top layer.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Remove from oven, let cool slightly, and garnish with cilantro, jalapeños, and avocado as desired.
