Ingredients:

  • 1 pound (450g) ground beef
  • 1 medium yellow onion, chopped (approx. 1 cup/150g)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) milk
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons yellow mustard
  • 2 cups (200g) shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup (200g) tater tots, frozen
  • Diced pickles, shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes (for serving) (Optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet, brown ground beef over medium-high heat. Drain any excess grease.
  3. Add chopped onion to the skillet and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  4. Stir in the garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and salt.
  5. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the condensed cream of mushroom soup, milk, ketchup, and mustard.
  6. Pour the sauce mixture over the beef and onion in the skillet. Stir to combine.
  7. Pour the beef mixture into the prepared baking dish.
  8. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the beef mixture. Top with frozen tater tots in a single layer.
  9. Bake for 30 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the tater tots are golden brown and crispy.
  10. Let cool slightly before serving. Garnish with your favorite burger toppings like diced pickles, shredded lettuce, and diced tomatoes, if desired.
