Ingredients:

  • ½ cup (45g) rolled oats (old-fashioned oats)
  • 1 cup (240ml) milk (dairy or non-dairy, like almond or oat milk)
  • 1 tablespoon (15ml) plain yogurt (Greek or vegan yogurt)
  • 1-2 tablespoons (14-28g) packed light brown sugar, to taste
  • ½ teaspoon (2.5ml) vanilla extract
  • ¼ teaspoon (1.25ml) ground cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt
  • Optional toppings: Sliced bananas, berries, chopped nuts, a drizzle of maple syrup

Instructions:

  1. In a jar or container, add the rolled oats, milk, yogurt, brown sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt.
  2. Stir all ingredients thoroughly until well combined. Ensure the brown sugar is mostly dissolved.
  3. Cover the jar with a lid and refrigerate overnight, or for at least 8 hours.
  4. Before serving, give the oats a good stir. If the mixture is too thick, add a splash of milk to reach your desired consistency.
  5. Taste the oats and add more brown sugar if needed.
  6. Top with your favourite toppings, such as sliced bananas, berries, or a sprinkle of nuts.
  7. Tuck in!
