Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup (45g) old fashioned rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) milk of choice
  • 1/4 cup (60g) plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon (12g) chia seeds
  • 1 teaspoon maple syrup or honey
  • 1/4 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch sea salt

Instructions:

  1. Measure the oats. Place the 1/2 cup old fashioned rolled oats into a wide mouth glass jar. Note: Using a jar with a lid makes storage and transport much easier.
  2. Add the seeds. Toss in 1 tablespoon of chia seeds. Note: These tend to settle, so ensure they are evenly distributed among the dry oats.
  3. Pour the liquid. Add 1/2 cup of your milk of choice directly over the dry ingredients.
  4. Incorporate the yogurt. Dollop 1/4 cup of plain Greek yogurt into the mix. Watch for the white swirls as it begins to mingle with the milk.
  5. Sweeten the deal. Drizzle in 1 teaspoon of maple syrup or honey and 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla extract.
  6. Season lightly. Add that crucial pinch of sea salt to the jar.
  7. Combine thoroughly. Stir everything with a long spoon until no dry pockets of oats remain at the bottom of the jar.
  8. Seal and set. Tighten the lid and give it one final shake.
  9. Refrigerate the batch. Place the jar in the fridge for 6 hours minimum. Look for a thick, jam like consistency before eating.
  10. Final garnish. Before serving, give it a quick stir and add your favorite fresh toppings like berries or nuts.
