Ingredients:

  • 4 Large Ripe Bananas, sliced into 1-inch coins
  • 1 Pinch of Salt
  • 1-3 Tablespoons Non-dairy milk or water (optional liquid)
  • 2 Tbsp Unsweetened cocoa powder (for Chocolate Variation)

  • 1/4 tsp Pure peppermint extract (for Mint Chip Variation)
  • 1 cup Frozen strawberries (for Strawberry Dream Variation)
  • 1 tsp Instant espresso powder (for Coffee Kick Variation)
  • 1 cup Frozen mango chunks (for Tropical Mango Variation)

Instructions:

  1. Phase 1: Preparation (The Day Before). Peel 4 ripe bananas and slice them into roughly 1-inch thick coins.
  2. Arrange the slices in a single layer on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Freeze uncovered for 1 hour, then transfer to a freezer bag and freeze until completely solid (minimum 6 hours or overnight).
  3. Phase 2: Blending (The Magic). Transfer the frozen banana pieces and the pinch of salt to your food processor or powerful blender.
  4. Pulse several times to break the large chunks down into smaller crumbles. Stop and scrape down the sides often.
  5. Begin blending continuously. The mixture will pass through crumbly and clumpy stages. If needed, add liquid (non-dairy milk or water) one tablespoon at a time until the mixture spins freely and resembles soft-serve ice cream. Do not over-blend.
  6. Phase 3: Serving or Hardening. Serve immediately for a soft-serve consistency, or transfer to a freezer-safe container and freeze for 1–2 hours for a firmer, scoopable texture.
