Ingredients:
- 1 box (15.25 oz / 432 g) of your favorite vanilla cake mix
- 3 large eggs (150 g)
- 1 cup (240 ml) whole milk (or buttermilk for extra flavor)
- 1/2 cup (115 g) unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tsp (5 g) pure vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup (100 g) granulated sugar (optional for added sweetness)
- 1 cup (230 g) unsalted butter, softened (for frosting)
- 4 cups (480 g) powdered sugar (for frosting)
- 1/4 cup (60 ml) heavy cream (or milk, for frosting)
- 1 tsp (5 g) vanilla extract (for frosting)
- Pinch of salt (to taste, for frosting)
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease your baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, combine the cake mix and granulated sugar (if using). Whisk to combine.
- Add the eggs, milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract to the dry mix.
- Using an electric mixer or whisk, beat on medium speed until well combined and smooth, about 2 minutes.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, smoothing the top with a spatula.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
- In a mixing bowl, beat softened butter until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar, heavy cream, vanilla, and a pinch of salt, beating until smooth and fluffy.
- Once the cake is completely cooled, spread the frosting evenly over the top with an offset spatula.
- Cut into squares, serve, and delight in the bakery-like flavors!
