- 2 tablespoons (30ml) olive oil
- 1 tablespoon (15g) sugar
- 1 packet (2 ¼ teaspoons) active dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon (5g) salt
- 1 cup (120g) shredded vegan cheddar cheese
- ½ cup (75g) diced fresh jalapeños
- 2 tablespoons (30ml) nutritional yeast (optional, for extra cheesiness)
Instructions:
- In a bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Stir gently and let sit for about 5-10 minutes until foamy.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour and salt.
- Pour yeast mixture and olive oil into the dry ingredients. Mix until a dough forms.
- Turn dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let rise in a warm place for 30-45 minutes or until doubled in size.
- In a bowl, combine shredded vegan cheddar, diced jalapeños, and nutritional yeast.
- Punch down the risen dough, then roll it out on a floured surface. Add the filling and roll into a tight loaf.
- Place the shaped loaf in a greased loaf pan or on a baking sheet. Cover and let rise for another 20-30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown and hollow sounding when tapped on the bottom.
