Ingredients:
- 4 cups (500g) all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup (100g) granulated sugar
- 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) instant yeast
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup (240ml) whole milk, warmed
- 1/4 cup (60ml) ube extract
- 1/4 cup (60g) unsalted butter, softened
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tablespoon (15g) additional granulated sugar (for topping)
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
Instructions:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together warmed milk, ube extract, eggs, and softened butter.
- Gradually add wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until combined.
- Knead the dough for about 10-15 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place dough in a greased bowl, cover with a kitchen towel, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough, transfer to a floured surface, and divide into two equal pieces.
- Shape each piece into a loaf, tucking in the ends to create a smooth surface.
- Place the shaped loaves into the prepared baking pan. Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Whisk the additional egg and brush the tops of the loaves.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the tops are golden brown and the internal temperature reaches 200°F (93°C).
- Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 5 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack. Slice and enjoy!
