- 1/4 cup (45g) semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, and activated charcoal until well combined.
- In another bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Mix in the egg and vanilla extract until fully incorporated.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined.
- Fold in chocolate chips if using.
- Use a cookie scoop or spoon to portion the cookie dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them approximately 2 inches apart.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until edges are lightly golden.
- Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
